The Board of Directors and management at Paragon would like to offer our sincere thanks, and gratitude for two recent donations to the Club.

We would like to thank the Nix family for making a very kind donation of a beautiful bench on #4 tee, in honour of Karen Nix. This will accompany a tree which was planted in honour of long-time member Doug Nix. The Nix family has also made a cash donation, which will enable the purchase of a new handicap computer for the future use of our membership.

We would also like to thank our anonymous member for the donation of a dedicated screen monitor for the Pro-Shop. This new piece of technology will enable all members and guests to view the current tee-sheet from outside the Pro-Shop at all times. This will not only provide a great convenience to our players, but will cut down on congestion in the Pro-Shop at busy times, and ultimately help pace of play by getting golfers started on time.

In conclusion, here are a few other announcements and reminders:

We will have a fully updated version of the Paragon 2022 Tournament Schedule posted early next week, so stay tuned.

We are still accepting registrations for membership for the upcoming season. Registration forms are available on the Paragon website, or can be picked up in person at the Pro-Shop.

The Paragon G&CC Spring Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 31 at 7PM in the Clubhouse.

The Paragon Junior golf program gets started on June 15; contact us for more details.

The Tuesday night Ladies Golf League begins on June 7; contact the Pro-Shop for more information.

That’s all for now!! Stay tuned for more updates, as the 2022 season here at Paragon kicks into high gear!!

Thanks, and see you on the links!!

Exciting News March 2022

Hello everyone!! There is a lot going on in all departments as we get ready for opening day here at our wonderful Club!

Food and Beverage:

We are very excited to announce that Paragon Golf and Country Club has entered into a relationship with the Oaken Barrell Pub in Greenwood, to take over the food and beverage operations here at our Club for the upcoming 2022 season. The ownership/management of the Oaken Barrell bring to us a proven track record of great food, great service, strong business practices, as well as a lengthy history in the regional food and beverage industry. We sincerely welcome Dean Mrkic, Jennifer Delorey, and their team. Together we will work hard to provide Paragon’s members and guests with top notch service this season!!

Pro Shop:

As many members will now be aware; we will be relocating our Pro Shop from the clubhouse back to it’s original location between the 1st and 10th tees. We definitely feel that this makes sense from an operational standpoint, and feel that the original location of the pro shop has historically always been the central point of entry to the Club, so logistically it makes perfect sense to take the pro shop back to its original home. Minor renovations have already taken place in the pro shop and will continue this coming week. Barbara Eaton and her staff will be busy getting the pro shop ready as well this week, and we definitely plan to have this very integral part of the Club functional and fully operational by the time the Club opens for the 2022 season.

We are very pleased to announce that we have attained the services of Adrien van Dyk for the position of Superintendent here at Paragon Golf and Country Club. Adrien is a graduate of the Penn State University Turfgrass Management program, where he completed his studies with distinctive honors. Adrien comes to us with an extremely impressive resume that includes management positions at top golf clubs in across Canada, as well as top level positions in other fields outside of the golf industry. Adrien is an intelligent and motivated young man who possesses world class credentials and we are so very happy to have secured his talents here at Paragon!! Adrien will be starting work by mid April, and we are certain that his presence here will make and immediate impact with regards to the condition of the golf course, and as a leader of our turf operations!!

Welcome to our team Adrien!!

In Closing:

As you can see, we have a lot of positive and exciting things happening here at Paragon as we prepare for the 2022 season. I would like to send a huge shout out to the volunteers who showed up to our course clean up days on March 23-24. I am very grateful to have such a hardworking, dedicated group of volunteers who give their time so freely out of a sense of love and passion for our Club!! Our volunteers represent the very life blood of the Club itself and your efforts are truly appreciated!! Thank you!!

On a personal note, I am rapidly settling into my new role as the Club’s General Manager, and would like to express my gratitude for being given the opportunity to lead the operations of Paragon Golf and Country Club in the future!! I would also like to thank the members of the Paragon BOD, fellow members of staff, and the membership in general for the support they have given me in the first 3 weeks of my new job.

Stay tuned for our next update which will hopefully be the announcement of opening day. There is much work to do in preparation for opening, but we pledge our utmost efforts in this respect; and we hope for some warmer weather!! If all goes well, and the weather co-operates we are hoping to be golfing at Paragon in the very near future.

Thank you, and see you on the links!!!

yours truly,

Dave MacMillan
