October News Letter

Thank you all for your patience and support during a very busy summer, especially September. We’re looking forward to some amazing fall weather with lots of great golf to be played in October. Please take some time to read over the following newsletter to bring yourself up to speed with what is happening at the club.

October 4th – Proof of Full Vaccination

As many of you are likely aware, beginning Monday October 4th, we will have to enforce the Nova Scotia Public Health Order to check for proof of full vaccination against

Covid-19 for all members and guests of Paragon.

As both a licensed restaurant and an outdoor fitness and recreational facility we are required to see proof of vaccination before playing golf, using the putting green or driving range and eating in our club house. Members may, if they choose, sign a consent form for recording their vaccination status so they do not have to prove their vaccination status more than once. Please continue to wear a mask inside any of our buildings.

Please remember that we have no choice but to follow this Public Health Order. Our staff are only doing what we need to do to comply with the order, please do not hold them responsible.

Beginning Saturday October 2nd we will be giving members the opportunity to show us their vaccination records and sign a consent form allowing us to maintain a record, so we won’t need to see your vaccination record each time that you come on property.

On Monday October 4th everyone entering the property has to go through the pro shop to show their record of vaccination. Please arrive early enough for your tee time to allow for this check, and for the signing of the consent form if you chose to sign it. You cannot access the cart coral, practice range, practice green or club storage without first checking in at the pro shop. For the short term we will be blocking the road to cart storage and the practice range to ensure full compliance.

Again, on Monday October 4th everyone entering the property has to go through the pro shop to show their record of vaccination.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter, please be patient and understanding of the added stress and confusion you may face as you check in to play.

Club Closing Scramble

Our club closing 2-Person Scramble will be held Saturday 9 October. Please register at the Pro Shop. To date we have very few entrants, if we don’t have a larger field by close of registration on Wednesday we may have to cancel the event.

2 Person teams, maximum handicap spread of 6

Pro Shop Sale

Almost everything in the Pro Shop has been marked down to Clearance Pricing. Stop in and see what we have, and keep an eye on Facebook for some updates as well.

We don’t want to have to move all the merchandise back to the “old Pro Shop”, we’d rather sell it!

Kitchen Hours and Closing Dates

Kelly and her staff have had a great season, but our kitchen service is starting to wind down. The kitchen will be open 11-5 October 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th, 8-5 October 7th, 9th and 10th, weather depending. The kitchen will be closed October 11th for Thanksgiving Monday, but will be open again from 10-2 the 12th to the 15th while the staff clean up and put things away. By that week we will have a pretty limited menu. Snacks, hot dogs and drinks will be available from the Pro Shop during our open ours when the kitchen isn’t open.

Maintenance Fall Schedule

Jenn and the maintenance crew are still working hard to keep the course in great shape. Some planned dates for the more major fall projects are:

Tee aeration the week of October 4th, which should not greatly impact play.

Greens aeration the week of October 18th; we’re not taking a core, just punching holes and top dressing.

Fairways will be aerated at a later date, but starting before the end of the month.

Irrigation system upgrades, likely to start middle of November.

Fall Green Fee Special

Please let your friends and family know that we have some great deals for the month of October:

7 days a week : green fees $45 taxes in until noon; $30 taxes in after noon

7 days a week green fee and cart special:

2 green fees with a shared cart + 2 sleeves of white Callaway Supersoft balls for $85 taxes in after 11 AM

Fall Classic 4-Man Scramble

We’re looking for teams for a 4-Man scramble for Saturday October 16th. 1:00 PM Shotgun start. $80 per team and open to members and non members. Green fee for non-members is $20. Maximum of 1 single digit handicap per team, minimum combined team handicap of 50. See the pro shop for more information or to register.

I hope this wasn’t information overload. I plan to try to get a note out once a month or so, but September got away from me before I got a chance to share some information. Enjoy October, it looks like we in store for lots of amazing fall weather!
